Friend of God- Abraham

CONNECT
  • What in the message most stood out to you? What do you think God is telling you through this message?

WORD
  • “Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. 14 You are my friends if you do what I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants,[a] for the servant[b] does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all that I have heard from my Father I have made known to you.” John 15:13-15
  • Abraham was called a friend of God (James 2:23). His friendship with God constitutes agreement, loyalty and dependability and ability to confide in one another. Like Abraham, we can enjoy this kind of relationship with God because of what Jesus did on the cross for us.
APPLICATION
  • How can you experience friendship with God everyday? How can you deepen your friendship with Him everyday?
  • Is there anything that stands in the way of your friendship with God? What do you think God wants you to do about it?
  • Read John 13:34-35. How are we called to respond to God’s love and friendship? How can you reach out to others in friendship this week?
PRAYER
  • Thank God for being our friend, for choosing us and loving us unconditionally.
  • Pray that your friendship with God will deepen every single day. Ask God to reveal anything that hinders you from having an intimate relationship with Him.
  • Pray for an opportunity to extend God’s love to a friend this week. Pray for open doors to share the gospel.
