WORD
“Then the disciples of John came to him, saying, “Why do we and the Pharisees fast, but your disciples do not fast?” And Jesus said to them, “Can the wedding guests mourn as long as the bridegroom is with them? The days will come when the bridegroom is taken away from them, and then they will fast. No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment, for the patch tears away from the garment, and a worse tear is made. Neither is new wine put into old wineskins. If it is, the skins burst and the wine is spilled and the skins are destroyed. But new wine is put into fresh wineskins, and so both are preserved.”” Matthew 9:14-17 ESV
Like wineskins, people are stretched, but we need to be drenched again in the HOLY SPIRIT. We need to come again to the river of God. But this is not about re-inventing ourselves, or doing a makeover, because if we are in Christ Jesus we’ve already had a makeover. We just need to realize our position in Christ and how God has positioned Himself to us in regard to His Son.
God is going to not only forgive you of our sins, but also going to work redemptive recovering restorative graces on everything that may have been lost on the way.
APPLICATION
What do you see as old wineskin in your life? What is the new wineskin that you need?
How can we know for sure we are actually enjoying the new garment, the new wineskins, the new wine?
PRAYER
Pray that God will fill you with with New Wine, that you’ll be able to walk in fullness of joy and spirit that is alive.
Pray that the gospel would continue to be preached and more disciples would be made through the church. Intercede for your family members and friends who have not received Christ as their Lord and Savior. Pray for opportunities to present the gospel to them, even this week.
