BEYOND NUMBERS: The Way Out

WORD
  • “The Lord is near to the brokenhearted  and saves the crushed in spirit.” -Psalm 34:18
  • Like the prodigal son in Luke 15, we  sometimes get stuck in a hopeless situation because of our pride. We think we can handle things on our own. We engage in a self-destructive behavior, try to be isolated and end up finding ourselves in a dark place. Many people believe the lie that there is no way out. But the truth is that God will never let you down; he’ll never let you be pushed past your limit; he’ll always be there to help you come through it.
  • What is the way out?
    • Acknowledge the reality of where you are. (Psalm 51:5-6)  God never expected us to be able to do it.  God just wants the truth, tell him that you messed up and needs help.
    • Do it now (2 Corinthians 6:2) God wants to save you where you are right now. All you have to do is to come to Him.
    • Humbly ask God for help (1 Peter 5:5-7) Humility puts you back in the favor of God.
APPLICATION
  • What is something specific that you want to ask God’s help for right now?
  • Read Haggai 1:5-7. How can you “give careful thought to your ways”? What are some of your ways that God is calling you to change?
  • How can you share the good news of salvation to a friend or family member this week?
PRAYER
  • Thank God for His love and faithfulness that never change. Pray for a greater revelation of who He is as you seek Him more everyday.
  • Ask God to be the Lord over your finances. Pray for wisdom in handling His resources.
  • Pray for opportunities to share the gospel to your friends and family this week.
