WORD
  • 20 Our soul waits for the Lord; he is our help and our shield.  For our heart is glad in him, because we trust in his holy name. 22 Let your steadfast love, O Lord, be upon us, even as we hope in you. Psalm 33:20-22 ESV
  • Our hope can be based on four things: based on a lie , based on a dream, based on a promise, based on a person.
  • When we base it on a promise or a person then it takes a lot of commitment. Relationships are free, but commitment is costly. In Luke Jesus tells his disciples that he is going to Jerusalem and face rejection, suffering, and death. As followers of Jesus, we will, too.
  • Read Luke 9:28-34 Jesus took the disciples to a mountain and they (disciples) were tired, exhausted. Then Jesus started to shine. The disciples were still sleeping and didn’t see Jesus shine. but in verse 32, they woke up and saw Him shining. Jesus shines whether we see it or not. When we are fully awake, we get to see His glory.
  • No matter what we’re going through, we should stay fully awake and see His glory because this intimacy with Jesus is costly. So when situations press in and things get hard, We can look at The One who we are in relationship with. He is worth it.
APPLICATION

  • Is there something (a person, situation, dream, etc) that you have lost hope in? What is God speaking to you about it?
PRAYER
  • Thank the Lord for giving you an unshakable hope in Christ. That this hope is not just for this lifetime, but for eternity. Praise God for His faithfulness to keep His promises over your life.
  • Pray for those that you know who need to hear the gospel and encounter Jesus. Pray and share as a group about how you would like to to share who Jesus is to the person during this week.
